Rural architecture and cultural identity
Recover Project
2007 Forum Editrice - Udine
Handbook produced within the framework of the trans-national RECOVER project (recovery of rural settlements as an opportunity for economic development) proposes an innovative methodology for the recovery and upgrading of rural settlements and is written both in Italian and English. The volume singles out cultural identification as the key element for the correct and effective recovery of historical-architectural heritage and underlines, in particular, that the categories involved in re-converting traditional architectural characteristics – administrators, designers, builder-craftsmen and purchasers – should be prepared to detect, recognise and accept this. Furthermore, the book gives guidelines for the preparation of technical manuals for the correct recovery of rural buildings and in particular of the external finishing elements such as masonry, packing, mantles, overhanging elements and openings. The publication is illustrated with Ulderica Da Pozzo’s photographs.
